Interior Design Trends You Need to Know About for 2019

We know, we know, you don’t want your lounge to look like your neighbour’s and heaven forbid, your kitchen looks like your sister’s. In saying that, it can be very helpful to keep your finger on the pulse of the latest interior design trends, picking and choosing what you like and what suits your style to keep your space fresh and interesting. 1. Go floral

Floral patterns have made a great comeback over the last few years, and now even more so.  Whether finding a beautiful wallpaper in bright florals, or using a floral fabrics for your custom-made curtains or soft furnishings, don’t think your grandmother florals – there are some beautiful new patterns and designs in exaggerated proportions and contrasting colours which ensure that your room stays modern.

2. Use copper in your finishings and décor accessories

Rose gold is out, copper is in. Interior design trends are moving more towards natural, rustic accents to create contrasts and a fresh new look to interior spaces. Copper is a beautiful, warm material with rich red and orange tones which works well in both sleek, modern spaces and more rustic living areas, depending on your individual style.

3. Mixing neutral and rich colour palettes

Using a neutral base, it’s easy to create a striking space by incorporating rich, vibrant elements, whether in your larger furniture pieces, or smaller accessories such as cushions, throws and lamp shades. Lookout for dramatic reds, deep blues, bold yellows and organic greens to really make your spaces special. Where copper is a more rustic material, brass is an option when you are still looking for a smoother, sleeker finish but are still after warmer tones than stainless steel or polished nickel. 5. Contrast, contrast, contrast

A timeless design trend, but one which is being seen more and more is using black and white décor to create beautiful contrast in a striking way. What’s great about this décor style is that when you want to spice it up a bit, you can just add a few coloured accessories and soft furnishings which will completely transform the space without the expensive of a full redesign.

6. Go abstract
